Amid news that troubled rap veteran Earl “DMX” Simmons had allegedly been caught smuggling contraband into prison thus extending his sentence, a spokesperson from the Arizona Department of Corrections has decried the erroneous reports that the rapper committed the said offense.

Barrett Marson, the media contact that dismissed the reports, gave a quote to website Rumorfix stating, “He did not smuggle drugs into prison. He failed a drug test, I don't know what drugs he took, but that's it. He was due to be released today but will now be released on July 19th.” Prison records show that DMX was not exactly a model prisoner with several disciplinary write-ups including drug test failure, disorderly conduct and possession of drugs. As we salute Chicago artist and prolific "tweeter" Lupe Fiasco as he reportedly intends to depart the fast moving social media network Twitter and also handing over his account – and 700,000 plus followers – over to singer Nikki Jean, RapFix has compiled a short list of the Lasers rapper’s top tweets in no particular order as he rides off into the Internet sunset.

1. Lupe Vs. Prolyfic – Lupe’s old producer and friend Prolyfic – who has worked alongside Kanye West and No I.D. – decided to get at his former collaborator and provoked a bit of a Twitter war with the rapper. Prolyfic went on to air a lot of dirty laundry, prompting Lupe to respond in kind. Lupe eventually stopped responding to the producer who continued to rail against the rapper. The pair would eventually squash the beef.

2. Lupe Vs. Atlantic Records Beef Gets Settled In A Twitpic – Smiling and sitting alongside Atlantic Records honcho Julie Greenwald, Lupe’s longstanding battle with his label to release his Lasers album was finalized and the rapper gleefully tweeted this photo of he and Ms. Greenwald along with getting a release date for the record. Troubled rapper Foxy Brown found herself in the news just over a year ago after violating an order of protection filed by neighbor Arlene Raymond following a 2007 incident in which Brown reportedly hit Raymond with a Blackberry cell phone. In late July of last year, Brown and Raymond crossed paths in their Brooklyn neighborhood where the rapper exposed her backside to Raymond in violation of the order – with Brown even doing a small bit of jail time behind the dustup.

As Brown headed to trial today (July 12) to answer for the charge, the beleaguered beauty enjoyed a stroke of luck as the judge in the case dismissed all charges based on reports saying that Raymond did not wish to continue pressing charges. The NY Post nabbed a quote from assistant district attorney Robert Isdith stating, “She [Raymond] wanted this matter behind her," Isdith stated. "She wanted to drop the charges.” Read More...

Nobody will accuse Kanye West of being the most likable of major music stars, with his much publicized outbursts in the media and abroad enabling many to label the Chicago superstar of having an ego the size of the Sears Tower. However, it appears that Mr. West has one fellow megastar buddy who happens to think he’s not as bad as he seems.

Teen heartthrob Justin Bieber defended his friend and past collaborator in an interview with XXL in the magazine's July/August issue, and Biebs gave ‘Ye the ultimate cosign. Read More...

Although Jay-Z toils about in rarefied air as one of Hip Hop’s most popular and well paid stars, the former hustler from Brooklyn showed some compassion for the less fortunate by way of some scathing criticism of President Barack Obama and the towering unemployment crisis that continues to loom over the country.

In an impromptu chat held in New York City after last week’s listening party of Jay-Z’s and Kanye West’s upcoming collaborative album Watch The Throne, GQ reports that Jay held court with journalists and attendees in a loose discussion covering a bevy of topics. However, what stood out were Jigga’s comments on the current unemployment situation that has become a hotly contested political centerpiece. Read More...

As a young child in Oakland, a batboy for the local Major League Baseball team by the name Stanley Burrell would go on to become one of Hip Hop’s biggest entertainers in the late 80s and early 90s. Now known worldwide as MC Hammer, the longtime rapper and dancer has achieved fame and fortune due to his multi-platinum record sales including his diamond-selling 1990 smash album Please Hammer Don’t Hurt ‘Em.

On July 17, MC Hammer will be getting another high honor but this time it won’t be from the world of music. Hammer worked as a clubhouse assistant for his hometown squad Oakland Athletics between 1973 and 1980 and the MLB squad will be the first baseball team to award a bobblehead doll to a rapper.
