Let's have a toast ... it's all over. The MTV News Brain Trust fought long and hard over the order of the Hottest MCs in the Game list. We left you Friday (October 22) with Nicki Minaj as the #6 MC and we've just premiered our remaining rappers on MTV2. Were you watching?

Some of us got all of our MCs included on the ultimate round up, others not so much, but we all agree on the final product. So here's the final Hottest MCs in the Game list of 2010 in descending order: #10 Ludacris, #9 B.o.B, #8 Waka Flocka Flame, #7 Lil Wayne, #6 Nicki Minaj, #5 Rick Ross, #4 Drake, #3 Kanye West, #2 Jay-Z and #1 Eminem.

So what are the streets saying? We checked our @MTVRapFix account and searched the #hottestmcs hashtag on Twitter to see what fans, like you, had to say about our list. *ducks the impending flying fruit*

"Sorry ya'll but MTV got it right ... Kanye shouldve been # 1 though #hottestmcs," said @Leksyy. Read More...

Thank God it's Friday and thank God for our #6 Hottest MC in the Game, Miss Nicki Minaj. The Queens, NY native is the first female to make the list in the history of MTV's Brain Trust.

Charming the host of "Late Night With David Letterman" and hardened rap fans who frown at lady MCs is all in a day's work for the Nickster. And it doesn't hurt that she's also "hotter than a middle eastern climate," but ultimately the girl is vicious on the mic and leaves listeners amazed by her ability to steal the show no matter her co-stars, including Kanye, Drake and Ludacris.

We checked in with the experts to see how our decisions resonated in the streets.

"Number six? I demand a recount! Whether you like her or not, Nicki's one of the most popular artists right now," says Brian "B.Dot" Miller, RapRadar's Content Manager. "Let's look at the facts: She's had 10 entries on the Billboard Hot 100 chart this year, a standout verse on "Monster" and even kicked off the VMAs. Does the Brain Trust needs to visit the neurologist?!"

And speaking of those rap fans that aren't so into barbies—or women rhyming period—even they're praising Nicki Minaj's presence on the mic. Read More...

Following yesterday's online scuffle in response to Waka Flocka Flame as the #8 Hottest MC in the Game, we've got Lil Wayne at #7 on our list. Like Weezy, we're a love machine and we won't work for nobody but you.

Lil Wayne's called Riker's Island home for most of 2010, but it's hard to tell if you're listening to the radio or watching television. In his time away, Lil Wayne has garnered one gold album, We Are young Money which was released last December, and a #1 album on Billboard's Top 200 chart in I Am Not A Human Being, which sold 110,000 copies in its first week of release in September. A mainstay on the Hottest MCs list, his imprisonment precipitated a fall of five slots from last year's #2 ranking, but MTV News' Hip-Hop Brain Trust still voted Lil Wayne the #7 Hottest MC of 2010.

RapFix checked in with a few rap experts and fans for their reactions.

“I’m scared to see who’s above him, if Wayne dropped down to #7,” said San Francisco’s 106 KMEL Music Director Big Von. “It might be Soulja Boy at #1. I’m playing, but you actually might have Eminem at #1 because he’s back this year. Still, I won’t be satisfied until we get all the dudes in a room and make them rap.”

"That's bullsh-- ... what are yall thinking seriously," tweeted @MTVRapFix follower Wayneladystar. "I honestly feel like @SouljaBoy #1 in yall case smh."

Bonsu Thompson, Executive Editor of the Source magazine, doesn't want to see a rhyme battle or Soulja at #1 but he does think Wayne deserves more.

"I really think #7 is a little low for a rapper of Wayne's stature and current relevance," says Thompson. "I mean, I know Em has the numbers and Drake and Nicki are the today but are they really hotter than Wayne? Number one album in jail? Motherf---er, G--damn."

Yes, Queens-born Atlanta-bred rapper Waka Flocka Flame is our #8 Hottest MC in the Game. *shakes locs* Not everyone agrees, but everyone gets an opinion, right?

“He's very well deserving I think, he’s definitely rookie of the year,” said A-town’s DJ Holiday. “He’s worked hard, I remember him playing me his joints on the bus. He’s got that emotion like an Onyx or a Wu-Tang, he’s bringing that feeling to the game.”

After dropping his mixtape Salute Me or Shoot Me Vol. 1 in January 2009, many were introduced to the energetic rapper through his breakout record "O Let's Do It." The rowdy club track quickly became a fan favorite, and one year later, after he peppered the streets with more mixtapes and a guest verse on "Bingo," from Gucci Mane's 2009 LP, The State vs. Radric Davis, "O Let's Do It" got an official remix featuring  official remix featuring Diddy, Rick Ross and Gucci Mane featuring furs and the A’s Central Station club. Then “Hard In The Paint” took over the clubs in early 2010 followed by “No Hands” featuring Roscoe Dash and Wale, the latter of which currently sits at no. 6 on both Billboard’s Rap Songs and R&B/Hip-Hop Songs charts.

"While it's more rap to me than traditional hip-hop, Waka's ranking as a hot MC is justified,” says John Gotty of The Smoking Section. “Being from the South and involved with age groups ranging from adolescents to adults, his name is often mentioned as if he were more of a cultural phenomenon than a musician. Sure, his time in the spotlight may be limited, but he's shining bright and doing it with simplicity and honesty. Although it's contrary to what some members of the music community believe, they should be glad he didn't get the higher ranking he deserves."

But everyone isn’t so impressed.

“Now unfollowing @mtvrapfix <--Waka Flaka flacka number 8 ? You killin hiphop,” tweeted PhillyBoiSWP.

“It's a joke, right? Do lyrics just not matter anymore?” added Kobe42085.

While we know Waka isn’t the most lyrical dude, his power in the clubs is undeniable and even New York’s Hot 97 DJ Funkmaster Flex agrees.

“What’s very important when you talk about Hot is that you gotta listen to the people and what the people say, is where it’s moving,” Flex told RapFix. “My man Waka Flocka is one of the hottest people [and he's] been doing his thing the last couple of months, not just from the first records, from all his records man up until now ... hot. When this boy touches in the club? Mean.”

“How can they leave out Waka? He’s killing it right now!” agreed Mauriciogarcia3 via Twitter.

The kid’s so mean in fact, that his last mixtape became a full-fledged album. No Drake.

Flockaveli was a mixtape was originally, and when we put up the cover online it got like 500,000 views in a day, so for the label to actually take it and make it an album, that’s speaks for itself and my body of work,” said DJ Holiday, who hosted the mixtape. “The album has actually got three successful singles on it and there are other little joints like “Grove Street” that I like and, of course, “Bussin’ At Em.” He’s creating a fan base and his own lane, a lot of people are gonna coat tail but he’s got his lane sewn up. I’m proud of him.”

Waka ... Flocka ... Flame! Waka ... Flame! Waka ... Flocka ... Flame!

The Northside Queens-born, Atlanta-bred rapper first nabbed the street's attention with his mixtape Salute Me or Shoot Me Vol. 1 in January 2009 featuring his breakout record "O Let's Do It." The rowdy club track quickly became a fan favorite, and a year later, after he peppered the streets with more mixtapes and a guest verse on "Bingo," from Gucci Mane's 2009 LP, The State vs. Radric Davis, "O Let's Do It" got an official remix featuring Diddy, Rick Ross and Gucci Mane featuring furs and the A's Central Station club.

Then the singles "Hard in Da Paint" and "No Hands," from his debut LP Flockaveli (released October 5) which began as a DJ Holiday-assisted mixtape but was upstreamed and fashioned by Asylum into an official album, garnered him enough buzz to be voted the #8 Hottest MC in the Game, his first time making the list.

"[Waka] put out three consistent records in a row," MTV senior producer Rahman Dukes said during the Hottest MCs roundtable. "He's coming out a region that's known for putting out one great record."

Still, there are many in hip-hop who question the upstart's talent. Critics have derided him, claiming he's more flash and rowdiness (witness his shouted ad lib above) than lyrical substance.

"He's not the most lyrical dude," MTV News senior writer Jayson Rodriguez admitted, defending Waka's place on the list. "But these joints, they're ubiquitous. You can't go places without hearing 'O Let's Do It.' You hear it everywhere."

"There's always been a lane for different artists who just control that 'get drunk, get crunk, just go hard' ... and those artists usually haven't always been the most lyrical," said MTV News supervising producer Sean Lee. "Right now, he's owning that lane."

MTV News' Shaheem Reid agreed. "When I listen to Waka, it just takes me back to the audacity when Onyx came out, that spirit," he said. "You put the song on, you go into the club, and you just gotta be prepared for anything."

But MTV Jams' Tuma Basa wasn't as easily convinced that having a handful of hot records in the club was enough to warrant the attention Waka is currently receiving. "Does Waka have the lasting power?" he questioned. "Does he have the ability to sustain, where a year from now everybody's going to admit that they liked the song?"

These proved to be questions that opened up a great deal of debate among the MTV News Hip-Hop Brain Trust, and Waka ultimately found himself pitted against eventual #9 selection B.o.B for his slot at #8.

"I feel like that's a question of commercialism versus what's hot in the streets," said RapFix editor Hillary Crosley. Dukes added: "Waka, he has the soul of the streets right now."

Lee felt that Waka's music, because it's so hard and so raw, hits listeners in a way that B.o.B's shimmery pop tunes can't. "You hear the B.o.B records, and you're like, 'I like that. It's cool,' " he said. "But it doesn't bring out the passion."

MTV News associate producer Steven Roberts strongly disagreed, claiming that hip-hop music reaches more than just a street audience, and that another audience, perhaps one not being spoken for at the roundtable, felt just as strongly about B.o.B's music as Waka's.

"It's definitely a different crowd," Roberts said. "You have a song like 'Nothin' on You,' which girls can gravitate towards; you have a song like 'Airplanes,' where it's inspirational. You have to look at the hip-hop circle as bigger than just the streets. In hip-hop, there is a pop circle. [And] you got a lot of dudes in hip-hop who just don't mess with Waka Flocka; who are like, 'This is just ignorant.' "

"Waka's charting," MTV Jams' Sheila Grullon countered. "Not on top 40 [radio], but he's charting. And the urban charts are crazy right now. You go to the clubs, and nobody's gonna play 'Airplanes.' "

Grullon is right: "O Let's Do It" hit #7 on the Billboard Rap Songs chart, while "No Hands" hit #6.

In the end, the Brain Trust kept Waka at #8, because he's on the rise at the moment, his songs are continuing to get hotter, and the spotlight is definitely on him.

The 2010 Hottest MCs in the Game rollout is now under way! As in 2008 and 2009, the criteria is based on a combination of rhyme skill, flow, buzz, commercial success, business ventures, Web presence and cultural influence. Atlanta may be the home of trap rap, but not everyone wants to be a d boy—just ask B.o.B. At #9 on our infamous Hottest MCs in the Game list, he's definitely the least likely to end up behind bars. This ... is a good thing.

"He's completely original and once again proves that not all rappers need street-cred," says Rob Markman, XXL's Deputy Editor. "Bobby Ray's spot on the list is well-deserved."

The rapper's also gained a no. 1 hits on Billboard's Hot 100 chart with the pop-driven track "Nothin' On You" featuring Bruno Mars which sold more than 2 million copies. Rumor says Lupe Fiasco turned down the track during his tiff with Atlantic Records, but one man's trash is another's treasure.

B.o.B duplicated that success with "Airplanes," featuring Paramore's Hayley Williams, which spent a staggering 26 weeks on the Hot 100, peaking at #2. It even spawned a remix with a reinvigorated Eminem, which helped launch Marshall Mathers back into the public eye.

"He gets accused of "selling out" or going too pop by people who were hooked on his earlier mixtapes," says VIBE Senior Editor Clover Hope. "But beyond those cheesy songs he's really a talented MC and he's obviously had a breakout year, #9 makes sense."

But is B.o.B feeling some of that disapproval himself?

"People hate each other because we feel others don't care about us," the Atlanta MC tweeted yesterday (October 18). "And we don't care about others if we feel other people hate us."

On second thought, we honestly have no idea what he's talking about but thankfully Bossip.com's Managing Editor Janee Bolden does understand the rapper.

"Putting B.O.B. on the 10 Hottest MC's list is bound to create some controversy," she says. "He's fairly new on the scene, but he has a different kind of buzz than someone like Drake. They both make successful pop music, which is why it definitely makes sense to put him on the list. No disrespect, but as much as we respect him for juggling rapping and singing with producing and playing live music (who else does that in rap?) you also have to admit he's probably more well known for those catchy ass hooks than for his verses as an MC."

Ultimately, despite B.o.B's pop success, the kid can spit and that will give him longevity.

"B.o.B has had an incredible year," concludes Markman. "He's had a no. 1 and a no. 2 Billboard single, toured across the world, performed in front of U.S. President Obama and is one of 2010's most notable breakout artists."

Until #8...

Forget Halloween. This Sunday (October 24) is going to be terrifying for some rappers as we unveil our Hottest MCs in the Game list. Today (October 18) we announced Ludacris as no. 10 and we’ll be rolling out one MC each day, leading up to our fight for the last five airing this Sunday on MTV2. Recently, we hit the streets where Alicia Keys, Swizz Beatz, Jay Sean and Ryan Leslie disclosed their favorite MCs.

“The Hottest MC for 2010, that’s a hard one … One of my favorite MCs is Ghostface, that’s just me, that’s who I am,” she said. “I’ve definitely always got love for Jay since ‘Reasonable Doubt,’ you should see me on the piano playing ‘Dead Presidents.’ I definitely love the classics, I can’t front.”

Jay Sean gave props to Detroit’s golden boy.

“Eminem proves that he is an amazing, amazing MC because he can come back after such a long hiatus and bury everyone, props to him too,” said Jay Sean.

Producer-cum-MC himself Swizz Beatz had a laundry list of MCs to name check, but we guess so since he’s worked with most of them.

“Drake, Kanye, Rick Ross, Jeezy, Fif,” said Alicia Keys’ husband, donning a fly velvet bow tie, before admitting his true favorite rapper.

“Jadakiss, even if he don’t put nothing out because I know what he’s capable of doing,” added Swizz. “I can go on and on, I’m a fan of everyone, Busta … because I see the artists on and off the scene, so I see what they’re about to come with and I know what they came with that didn’t really take off so … that’s my list.”

Ryan Leslie would normally seem like an odd fit for the Hottest MCs, but the prodigy R&B singer-songwriter recently rhymed on Kanye West’s “Christian Dior Denim Flow” so he’s definitely in the club.

“I think I’m going to have to give it up to G.O.O.D. Music right now,” said R.Les. “[As for MCs, I’m] actually working with right now and that would be Kanye, Pusha T, my homie Prince, Lloyd Banks and 50 Cent.”

None of this would be possible without you, the fans, and your input so be sure to tweet us with the hashtag #hottestMCs to @MTVRapFix, @MTVNews and @RealSway. If you’re not into writing, then upload a video of yourself talking about our Hottest MCs list at Your.MTV.com.

Check RapFix every day for the next on our list of Hottest MCs in the Game and make sure you tune in Sunday October 24 on MTV2 where we’ll reveal the final five MCs. Tweet us at @MTVRapFix or tell us in a comment below!

Some multi-platinum MCs like Jay-Z and Lil Wayne have a long history with our Hottest MCs in the Game list, while others seem to be left in the cold year after year. It's finally time to hand Ludacris a coat, ladies and gents, because he's no. 10 slot on our list of who's who in hip-hop.

"I finally made MTV's top 10 MC's list." tweeted Ludacris. "Y'all finally startin to wake up I see. Now it's time to beat em over the f--kin head!"

Despite his increasing Hollywood cache, vicious guest appearances on multiple remixes—and the 'original version' like Justin Bieber's "Baby"—and his albums repeatedly reaching no. 1 on Billboard's hip-hop albums chart, 2010 is the first time Luda, born Chris Bridges, is included in the list. We checked in with a few of our peers and you, the fans, to see what the streets had to say about our decision.

"I think Luda should have been on the Hottest Mcs list," said Allhiphop's Chuck Creekmur. "To be honest, lyrically he exceeds most of his peers. I think his penchant for avoiding foolishness, gossip and other attention seeking ploys keeps him slightly outside of the headlines. But he fits all of the criteria and has been top tier from day one."

One fan patted us on the back for adding Luda.

"Ludacris? Huh. MTV actually explained the choice, and it actually makes sense when you read the article," said Down.To.Fly in a comment on MTV's news item announcing Ludacris' slot. "Maybe MTV is actually trying to make the list legit this year. They even mentioned Banks, and more surprisingly, Bun B. Hmm ... I can't believe I'm saying this but MTV, you get a gold star ... But we'll see how the rest of the list goes."

Fakeshore Drive's Andrew Barber cautioned folks not to discount the Atlanta-based MC because of his pop fame.

"It's nice to see Ludacris being recognized for his contributions to hip-hop after ten years in the game," said Barber. "I think because some of his current work is a bit more on the 'poppy' side of things, he's often overlooked as being a beast on the mic. Also, he's been the T-Pain/Akon of 2010 because he's been recruited to jump on everyone's remixes and singles. He was all over radio this year—there was no escaping or denying Luda."

Others felt Ludacris' ability to be professional and steer clear of bad publicity has, ironically, been a set back.

"Ludacris has been one of the most consistent artists over the last ten years and should be on the Hottest MCs list every year," said Southern rap journo Maurice Garland. "Skill wise, dude is one of the best rappers on the planet. Every time you hear him on a song he displays a different flow or cadence and besides Bun B's underground presence, Luda is probably the most called upon cameo feature artist in hip-hop. He is easily one of the more diverse, making something the kids can love (Justin Bieber's "Baby") or something you'll mess around and make a kid to (his verse on Ciara's "Ride"). The only thing I think that keeps Luda from appearing higher than no. 10 on this list is that we only know him from his raps, not from his dating life, legal troubles or rap beefs ... which is unfortunate."

Still, everyone wasn't impressed.

"Luda should not just be on the top 10 but he should no doubt be much higher on the list," declared one fan named Torrey in a comment. "For these people to even contemplate replacing him with Lloyd Banks shows how out of touch this panel is getting. I have no problems with Banks being on the list as well but I think he should go in the 10 spot and Luda should be no less than five."

What do you think of Ludacris coming in at no. 10? Feel he should've been higher on the list? Or do you think he shouldn'tve been on the list at all? Tweet us at @MTVRapFix or tell us in a comment below!

Back in October 2009 the MTV Brain trust tapped Wu-Tang Clan rapper Raekwon the Chef as one of it's "Hottest MCs In The Game." Rae was fresh off an impressive run that included countless mixtape appearances capped by the release of his much anticipated "Only Built For Cuban Linx II" album. The street soundtrack to Al Pacino's film "Scarface" delivered on it's promise to create a similar sound transporting music listeners back to one of rap's hottest summers as if it were 1995 all over again.

As the Brain Trust set the wheels in motion to unveil this years list starting on May 18th, once again Raekwon finds himself in the spotlight. A few accolades to name: the legs of "Only Built 4 Cuban Linx II" hop-scotched into 2010 thanks to the success of various singles and videos ("Surgical Gloves" and "Catalina"), the Rock The Bells tour with his Wu-Tang familia performing their own classic "Enter the 36 Chambers" in it's entirety and the announcement of his follow-up album "Shaolin Vs. Wu-Tang" slated for a year end release all positioned Rae for another banner year. But if you ask the purple tape holder it's his fellow rap veterans who should also be celebrated alongside himself.

"All of them are winners to me, honestly," Rae told MTV in Atlanta. "I can't say who should get it and who shouldn't, because [Big Boi and Bun B] are both superstars to me. Whoever gets it, they deserve it."

According to the Chef, the secret ingredient for rap's more tenured artists to stay relevant is centered around self-motivation.

"I think it's all in the mind," said Rae. "If you're somebody that really paved the way in the game, it's all on you. And that's something that I had to [realize] at the end of the day. It's like, 'I just want people to know I still love this. I'm in love with this.'

It's like being with a woman that you care about, that you really love — no matter how far you're away from her, you still love her."
