Compared to his fellow rappers, Lil Wayne has been relatively quiet since emerging from prison last November. A little too quiet, if you ask his fans. Sure, he dropped a series of show-stealing bars on his comeback single "6 Foot 7 Foot" in December, but he hasn't dropped nearly the amount of music that we predicted he would at the end of 2010.

Fortunately, he's already starting to make up for it in 2011. On "Roman's Revenge 2.0" — a track that leaked to the Internet on Monday afternoon — Wayne borrows the beat from Nicki Minaj and Eminem's Pink Friday collaboration, "Roman's Revenge," to prove that he's still just as potent on the microphone as ever. But was he able to upstage the performance Em delivered on the original? Let's find out. Read More...

It was only a matter of time.

Nicki Minaj hits the stage of NBC’s "Saturday Night Live," hosted by "The Social Network" star Jesse Eisenberg, on January 29. You know what that means: It's time to guess what the femcee will perform and what you, the fans, would like to see.

We can’t wait to see what the Queens-native will wear — this show is after all where Lady Gaga wore that gyro-scope outfit, while miraculously playing the piano at the same time — but we’re far more excited to hear what Barbie will perform. Read More...

Is that a competition brewing?

After Andre 3000 served up a surprising rhyme over Ke$ha's "Sleazy" on Friday (January 15), does the starlet have one foot ahead of our favorite pop-hop female artist, the Black Eyed PeasFergie?

The Dutchess has years of experience on the Nashville transplant, but it looks like Ke$ha has the lead in popularity and most importantly, recently garnered hip-hop brownie points from one half of OutKast. Both ladies have a strong fashion presence — Dresses made of garbage bags? We'll say eccentric for Ke$ha — and have been recognized by a few of hip-hop’s heavy hitters, including Ludacris ("Glamourous"), Lil Wayne ("Tik Tok" remix), Nelly ("Party People" featuring Fergie) and Pitbull ("Tik Tok" remix).

So we here at RapFix decided to compare the ladies' lyrics rhyme for rhyme on the same subject matter: Boys. Read More...

Now that Kanye West and Jay-Z have revealed “H.AM.,” the first track from their upcoming Watch The Throne LP, it's only right to dissect the MC's respective verses. How do Hov's Brooklyn-based lyrics stack up against Kanye's Chicago tales? First up is Yeezy’s verse:

"It was all good just a week ago, n---as feel they selves, and then Watch The Throne drop, n---as kill themselves/ What n---as gon' do Hov? This a new crack on a new stove, I’m in the two-door, true that, n---as tellin’ me you back/ Like a n---a ever left up out this bitch, huh? And if life a bitch suck my d--- huh?/ And I bet she f---ed the whole click, huh/ By the way n---a, you should f---in’ quit, n---a, just forget it, you talk it, I live it, like Eli,  I did it, jokes on you mothaf---er and I get it/ Read More...

While some debated over Kanye West and Jay-Z’s verses on "H.A.M.," others are calling for a remix featuring one specific MC — Rick Ross.

While other names like a certain Brick Squad MC were also  mentioned across the blogsphere — hello Waka Flocka Flame! — Ross’ name was echoed the loudest. RapFix turned to rap critics for their take on a Bawse remix.

"I need a Rick Ross addendum verse on 'H.A.M' stat," Clover Hope, Senior Editor of VIBE magazine tweeted.

Ernest Baker, Assistant Editor at Complex magazine noted past Ross remixes, saying "A Rick Ross remix would help sway a lot of people who are on the fence about this record. I think one should happen, but it'd be cool if Ross stuck to a supporting role like with 'Monster.' For most of his remixes, Ross leaves a good amount of the original song intact, so it'd be cool if he just tacked on a short verse at the end of 'H.A.M.'" Read More...

Have you seen Eminem's new commercial advertising the Grammy Awards, airing on February 13 on CBS? We just premiered the spot, shown above, on MTV News on Wednesday (January 5). The clip gives a svelte look at the MC's journey through music and imagery. However our question is: Does this commercial mean that Eminem will take the stage at the Grammy's?

"The artists are still being chosen," said Evan Greene, chief marketing officer for the Recording Academy.

In early December 2010, Em picked up a staggering 10 Grammy nods, including Song and Record of the Year (for "Love the Way You Lie") and Album of the Year (for Recovery, which is also up for Rap Album of the Year). He also scored noms for Best Rap Solo Performance (for "Not Afraid"), Pop Collaboration With Vocals (for his turn on B.o.B's "Airplanes Part II") and Best Rap Song (for "Lie"). Read More...

Last night, during "RapFix Live" Sway asked Lloyd Banks whether he'd work with G-Unit's former member, The Game ... and then Game tweeted 50 Cent about collaborating. Coincidence?

"@50cent All it take is "ONE PHONE CALL" !," Game tweeted. "U call me, I call BUCK, tell Banks holla at Yayo & dat puts HIP HOP @ OUR MERCY ! #UknowUcdisN---A."

But Lloyd Banks called shenanigans on a G-Unit reunion.

"I can't honestly take that situation seriously," Banks said, and Fif agreed. Read More...

The saga continues.

On Friday (Novmeber 12), from Dubai, Kanye West tweeted that he'd canceled his upcoming "Today" show performance. The MC wrote that he'd backed out "for obvious reasons."

"I'm so happy the world got to see just a small piece of 'the set up,' " tweeted Kanye. "This is just a small slice of the day to day bullsh-- that goes on that helps to precipitate the idea that I'm such an asshole ... cause when I don't perform oh noooow I'm the one that's crazy or a jerk!"

The Chicago MC went to on say that he's got "love" for Matt Lauer and the "Today" show. We imagine that the latter are probably rejoicing for the ratings boost this rapper-morning show spat has no doubt garnered.

Earlier this week, RapFix asked experts whether they thought West was right to apologize to George W. Bush. Read More...

Nicki Minaj’s debut album Pink Friday hits shelves in just over one week, however snippets from the highly-anticipated LP have already reached the web.

With songs like “Your Love," “Check It Out," “Right Thru Me” and “Roman’s Revenge" released on schedule, Nicki's camp has done quite a good job at keeping Pink Friday remaining tracks under wraps. So when 30-second snippets of the LP's tracklisting leaked on Wednesday (November 10), the response was voracious.

“Hearing the snippets @NickiMinaj’s Pink Friday just made my day/week/month,” tweeted one fan @kaykay_ox.

“Cannot f---ing wait til Pink Friday comes out! These snippets are f---ing unreal! There’s not one I don’t like,” added @MissKelliBaby.

Despite the fact that Nicki's leaks are only teasers, the bits pull back the curtain on how the LP will sound. Boasting a combination of punchy bars over pop-driven production, coupled with spurts of singing and overall weirdness, it appears that Pink Friday sounds just like some Barbie fans hoped it would. On Wednesday (November 10), a clip of Nicki Minaj chatting with blogger Perez Hilton hit the Internet. The interview began with the most salacious question—do all female MCs dislike Barbie?

"People think that I'm the 'hated female rapper,' " Nicki said. "But a lot of the girls have shown me a lot of love and behind the scenes have said, 'Congratulations, keep up the good work.' Can't we all just get along?"

The two also discussed the MC's hair choice in her clip for "Right Thru Me." Many hip-hop fans, and New York natives, appreciated Nicki's pedestrian clothing and wavy long hair in the video, saying she looked like a genuine Queens girl. However, Perez wasn't the biggest fan of her look.

"I didn’t like the hair. I gotta keep it real," Hilton said, before adding "But I’m loving the hair you have on now!"

Donning a chic straw hat, black bob and her diamond-encrusted Pink Friday chain, Nicki said that she isn't interested in maintaining the same hairstyle all the time. Still, everyone is entitled to their opinion on her wigs, she added diplomatically. Read More...
