Abel Tesfaye, better known as mysterious singer The Weeknd, has left an indelible mark on the R&B landscape after releasing two well-received internet albums this year (House of Balloons and Thursday). Underground legends Talib Kweli and Yasiin Bey (formerly known as Mos Def) made their debut as the duo Black Star with their 1998 album Mos Def & Talib Kweli Are Black Star. Since then, fans have been waiting for album number two, and that time is finally nearing. (Lil Wayne on Drake's first week sales of 'Take Care')

Fans weren’t the only ones were impressed with the 631, 000 copies that Drake’s sophomore album Take Care sold it its first week on the charts. The Young Money rapper was predicted to sell between 675,000 and 725,000 copies but his sales still landed him the third best first-week sales of the year (after Lady Gaga and Lil Wayne). Take Care even outsold Kanye West and Jay-Z’s Watch The Throne album in week one, and Hov reached out to Drake to say congratulations. Read More...

Earlier this month Lil Kim premiered a pair of tracks on Kay Slay’s Streetsweeper Radio show on Shade 45, both of which took jabs at Nicki Minaj, Lil Wayne and the Cash Money camp. Now the Brooklyn rap veteran has released a CDQ version of one of the songs, titled "I'm Not The One." When fans first heard this new track, it was accompanied by a remix of Uncle Murda's "Warning," which aimed to continue Kim's long-running verbal feud with Minaj. Read More...

Drake and Big Sean made bold (and partially misunderstood) assertions in the press earlier this year, which caught the ear of ATL rapper Ludacris. While describing his “Supa Dupa” flow, Sean told RapFix that he had resurrected the punchline style of rapping, which Drake then made popular on “Forever.” Drake took it a step further by quoting a line from Luda’s hit “My Chick Bad,” as a diluted example of other rappers copying the flow and that triggered Luda to respond on the single “Bada Boom” from his mixtape 1.21 Gigawatts: Back To The First Time.
