Rising Pittsburgh rapper Mac Miller continues to coast after getting some unexpected accolades from businessman Donald Trump in which he congratulated Mac for achieving over 20 million views of the song and video sharing the millionaire’s namesake. Hip Hop’s latest it girl Kreayshawn has already entered the game with a lot of buzz and some slight controversy by way of her White Girl Mob compatriot V-Nasty. The Bay Area newbie has collaborated in the past with Lil B doing video work and is fast friends with Odd Future members Left Brain and Hodgy Beats. After scoring big with two RIAA Diamond-certified albums – The Marshall Mathers LP and The Eminem Show – and continued high sales for his seventh studio album, the accolades are still piling up high for the 38-year-old Motor City rhyme slinger. Newly inducted into the hallowed halls of MTV Jams’ “Fab 5,” Pittsburgh rhymer Mac Miller sat on the “RapFix Live” couch with our host Sway Wednesday (August 17) and chopped it up on a variety of topics including his rise to fame, remaining true to his fans and himself while also displaying some bars for the fans watching at home. The personable 19-year-old Mac also revealed to Sway that he has worked alongside two legends in the realm of Hip Hop and how the experience left quite an impression.
After getting cosigns from other producers such as Just Blaze and 9th Wonder and even getting a shout out rom rap vets De La Soul, Mac Miller’s career has taken a serious upswing with a supportive fan base behind him. Mac’s career track also landed him in the presence of Hip Hop royalty DJ Jazzy Jeff and DJ Premier – recording with the trailblazers at various intervals but shockingly not employing them for his upcoming album Blue Slide Park. As the lone female voice of the Roc-A-Fella Records regime back in 2000, Amil’s distinctive hushed rap flow stood out amongst the throng of her male peers. Dropping her only album and debut A.M.I.L. (All Money Is Legal), Amil faded out of the spotlight although she made a few brief appearances in the 2000s although she’s yet to do any significant amount of tunes. Lil Wayne, going straight edge after his release from prison last year, has learned the fine art of avoiding trouble – a skill few celebrities of his magnitude seem to master. The Young Money honcho has been on a breakneck road grind with the “I Am Still Music” tour going strong in its second leg. While rocking out with our neighbors to the north in Canada, Wayne narrowly missed an incident at a Montreal nightclub and showed wise judgment in avoiding further risk to his safety and career.
