Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery. Drake showed off his vocal chops this week by singing Kanye West’s “Heartless” at a karaoke outing and then he uploaded his rendition to Instagram with the caption, “Everybody on Good Music!!”
Later, Drake’s friend took the mic to belt out a very, interesting, version of Rihanna’s “Diamonds.” “Haaaaaaaaaaaaaa #HeHadToTurnUp @mforde11,” Drake captioned to Rihanna’s friend Melissa Forde.
Performing “Heartless” at karaoke is just the latest installment in the blossoming love between Kanye and Drake. Kanye recently dubbed Drake a “rap god” during the Toronto stop of his Yeezus tour and then Drizzy made a surprise cameo onstage for a medley featuring “Forever” and “All Me.” Drake even dressed up as Yeezus for Halloween.
Before that, Kanye blessed Drake’s October’s Very Own (OVO Fest) with a special appearance. At that time, Drake told MTV News that Ye’s cameo was a defining moment in his young career. “That was probably the most important moment in my career to date,” Drake said after the show. “I think me and Kanye have wanted to express our respect for each other for a long time and sometimes rap, the business, the competitiveness and just the heart behind it forces you to not talk to the people you quietly admire.”
