In 2013 musicians continue to look for ways to build their brand, through aligning with product companies as ambassadors. Ryan Leslie is looking to take that way of thinking a whole step forward. If you’re not familiar with Ryan Leslie, he’s a brilliant individual who has had success outside of the booth just as much as he has inside. This week, it was announced that Leslie would launch a partnership with Live From The Republic. LFTR is an organization that specializes in producing concert series, with the intent to deliver a portion of the proceeds back to the host nation. A rewarding and unselfish initiative that is in the beginning stages.
LFTR and Leslie have already embarked on a journey to West Africa, where the singer met the First Lady of Ivory Coast. That visit is now the basis behind a concert in Ivory Coast set for spring of 2014. The sponsorship behind the journey is provided by sales of tour merchandise as well as a concert, which took place this year in Washington D.C. It was also a significant donation from Coca Cola that will help to provide an estimated one million dollars in medical supplies to Ivorian hospitals when Leslie returns in the Spring of next year.
Leslie’s partnership with LFTR isn’t the only thing he has going for him next year. The Harvard-grad and singer/songwriter is also set to release his much anticipated album Black Mozart in March, 2014. The album, according to a recent press release will be on a “direct-to-consumer platform.” The interaction and technologically advanced way of thinking has also allowed Leslie to lend a hand to artists such as Talib Kweli, Fabolous and Nipsey Hussle, with the latter gaining plenty of press earlier this year with his Proud-2Pay” campaign.
