Chance The Rapper’s Early Mixtapes Hit The Internet

Chance The Rapper made waves in 2013 with his Acid Rap mixtape and now fans can take it back to where it all began. One of the rapper’s super fans went back into the vault and released two rarely-heard mixtapes Good Enough and Back To School Pack on Reddit.

“I found chance the rapper’s old facebook yesterday and got a bunch of old pics/vids/music. here’s 2 of his earlier mixtapes,” said Reddit user Lavmar. “enjoy, i’m a huge chance fan and it’s cool as hell hearing his real old s–t like this so i thought y’all would like to hear it too. there’s actually some good s–t on those mixtapes.”

The tapes find the rapper coming into his own, dealing with issues like self-esteem and being an outcast in school. On “Dr. Oz,” Chance raps about wanting nothing more than a letterman jacket; the symbol of acceptance by his peers. He takes on Adele’s “Hometown” on “Hometown (Cali)” and samples Jay Z’s “Dear Summer” on “Dear Chicago Summer,” rapping about his hometown’s problem with violence. “When did Chicago become a part of East Compton?” he asks. “We all got Blood, but we don’t really need em.”

As 2013 comes to a close, Chance The Rapper is having his best year ever. He’s already topping a slew of critical lists and was named the ‘Best Mixtape of 2013′ by Rolling Stone.
