Tyler The Creator Rages Against Will.I.Am And The Idea Of ‘Selling Out’

When it comes to the things he creates, Tyler, the Creator doesn’t believe in “selling out” just for money. The Odd Future frontman believes in his artistic integrity so much that he made a $1 million wager with Will.I.Am while backstage at Kanye West’s “Yeezus” tour stop in Los Angeles Monday (October 28) night that 10 years from now, he’d still be doing what he loves and not what he has to do.

The very idea of compromising himself made the Wolf MC so mad, though, that he aired out the Black Eyed Peas emcee on Twitter.

“I MADE A BET WITH WILL I AM FOR A MILLION BUCKS THAT I WILL BE MAKING MONEY 10 YEARS FROM NOW DOING WHAT I LOVE AND NOT WHAT MAKES THE MOST,” Tyler tweeted. “N—- SAID “THEN YOU MAKE A DECISION ON WHAT TO DO TO SURVIVE.”

“NO N—- THATS NOT HOW IT IS FOR EVERYONE. IM NOT GONNA MAKE MUSIC I HATE. IN 10 YEARS HE’LL BE 50 AND ILL BE 32 MAKING MOVIES ( not even in them) WATCH. WOLF HALEY DIRECTOR SECTION WILL BE POPPIN SUCK MY WHOLE SH–.”

Tyler’s epic rant went on for over 10 tweets.

There was the backhanded compliment: “HES SO TALENTED BUT HES MAKING BUTT SH– TO MAKE BREAD, USE THE CREATIVITY FOR SOMETHING TIGHT MAN.”

Then there was the “I should have said this” moment: “I SHOULD HAVE BROUGHT UP THE FACT HE TRIED TO SUE PHARRELL ON SOME F— ASS Sh— BUT I WAS SO MAD HE INDIRECTLY SAID I WAS GONNA ‘SELL OUT’.”The insult tweet: “I CANT BELIEVE THIS N—- WAS PLOTTING ON MY F—ING DOWNFALL CAUSE HE MAKES SH– HE HATES AND DOESNT LIKE HIMSELF. WILL I AM IS A MARK.”

Then, of course, there was the “don’t believe me just watch” jab: “THIS N—- REALLY WALKED UP TO ME TELLING ME ABOUT MYSELF 10 YEARS FROM NOW N— F—- YOU NOW IMA GO OUT OF MY WAY TO PROVE YOU WRONG. IMA STAY POSITIVE AND FOCUSED LIKE I HAVE BEEN SO I CAN CONTINUE TO HAVE A TENNIS COURT IN MY BACKYARD EAT A D—.”

Wagers are usually made between friends, but judging by his venom for Will.I.Am and his “unvitation,” there’s no love lost between these two emcees.

In keeping with the usual dichotomy of his moods, Tyler interspersed his incendiary comments for Will.I.Am with kidlike excitement about meeting and taking selfies backstage with comedian Dave Chappelle.

“IN OTHER NEWS I MET DAVE LAST NIGHT AND I ALMOST STARTED TO CRY BUT I HAD NO OXYGEN FLOWING THREW MY BODY,” he tweeted. “DAVE AND I TAKING SELFIES DUDE I COULDNT F—ING BREATH HE WAS THE ONLY PERSON THAT I WANTED TO MEET OMG.”
