He’s “Mr. Nice Watch” for a reason. Jay Z is linking with Swiss luxury watch brand Hublot to launch the Shawn Carter Fusion Collection.
Watch expert Hodinkee shares that each watch has the Shawn Carter logo cut into the dial. The Classic Fusion watch will apparently come in black ceramic and yellow gold options.
How much will a Shawn Carter Classic Fusion watch set you back? The black ceramic model (limited to 250 watches) will sell for $17,900 while the yellow gold wristwear (100 pieces made) will be a whopping $33,900. You can snag the watches from the Shawn Carter pop-up floor at Barney’s New York from Nov 20- Jan 3rd or through select Hublot outlets.
Jay Z’s holiday collaboration with Barneys features a curated list of some of Hov’s favorite brands. Dubbed the “New York Holiday,” Balmain and Balenciaga as well as Rick Owens, Proenza Schouler, and Acne are all a part of the collection.
Jay has long since been a watch aficionado. In 2011, the rapper name-checked his new watch partner in “Otis” with the line, “New watch alert. Hublots.” Apparently demand skyrocketed for the brand after the shout-out. “We could feel an increase in demand,” said the brand head in the book Empire State Of Mind: How Jay-Z Went From Street Corner To Corner Office per Vibe. “But that demand could not be transformed into turnover because we were out of stock.”
