Top Dawg Entertainment (TDE) is known for being the home to Kendrick Lamar, but now the label has signed its first female singer SZA. The New Jersey singer joined the roster earlier this week.
"Thank you @dangerookipawaa for changing my life forever and believing in my ability I promise I will NOT let you down!! #Hiiipower #TDE" the singer tweeted to the label's head today.

Prior to signing with TDE, SZA, who cites influences from Bjork and Miles Davis to Lucy Pearl, released two EPs: See.SZA.Run last year and S in April. Her tracks “Teen Spirit,” outfitted with a beat by WondaGurl, and “Julia" have been gaining headway online.
"I started singing like yesterday. Literally it was like a year ago," she told Billboard earlier this year. See.SZA.Run was totally accidental. I just recorded one song and then another and then it was like 'You should probably record some other songs and make something out of it.' I recorded the songs with my friend who lives around the corner from me in Jersey and stole a bunch of beats off the Internet."
On what's next, SZA told the magazine, "Yes. But there's so much other stuff that's happening now. I'm working on a lot of interesting things that I'm not allowed to talk about that weren't a part of the original plan. But I promise they're interesting. Some cool partnerships and collaborations."
