If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it. That’s the mindset 2 Chainz must have had when fashioning the artwork for his upcoming sophomore LP, B.O.A.T.S. II: Me Time, which sticks to the tried and “tru” two gold chains motif that worked so well with his debut album.
“Here ya go guys! B.O.A.T.S 2 #MEtime. album cover,” the Atlanta rapper tweeted Tuesday (August 6) morning.
This time out, the cover art features a close up shot of two thick Cuban link necklaces with a white background. Kanye West’s creative company DONDA designed the packaging for the “I’m Different” MC’s new project, just as it did for Based on a T.R.U. Story.
“Me Time has multiple meanings. I feel like my music actually gives people a sense of going away sometimes — without really going on vacation,” Chainz told MTV News last month. “I feel like when people listen to me, they feel like they’re goin’ somewhere, taking time off; they’re relaxing, lettin’ their hair down. Every time somebody wants to have some ‘me time’ or whatever, this is the type of vibe, this is the type of project [to listen to]. I’m putting together different sounds to make people be like, ‘This is about me. Me and my people, this is our time.’”
The artist formerly known as Tity Boi is already in full-on promotion mode as he performed his latest single, “Feds Watching,” on “Late Night With Jimmy Fallon” Monday (August 5) night. Tity Two Necklaces got a little help from ?uestlove and the Legendary Roots Crew as he ran through the Pharrell Williams-assisted track with the benefit of the band’s signature live instrumentation.
“It just felt like it was something different, it felt like it was something that needed to happen,” he said. “For me it was about of course staying comfortable but trying new stuff, and that’s what I did rocking with Pharrell.”
B.O.A.T.S. II: Me Time is scheduled for release on September 10.
