While “Hollywood LA” and its accompanying visuals were a bit celebratory, Vic Mensa’s latest single from his upcoming Innanetape is anything but that. Over a beat from Boi 1da and the Maven Boys, Vic and MMG’s Rockie Fresh–both Chicago natives–ponder the evils of money, politics, power and how that all affects their crumbling city.

Vic’s new track features backing vocals from singer Belinda, and from verse one, the SaveMoney member gets right to what’s on his mind, rapping, “If you gon’ die, might as well die young/Tryna be optimistic but the politicians cut schools, buy guns/But when the shots is licking ain’t the ones that’ll lose they sons/Instead they send ‘em to private school and pull back on the public funds/While functioning as if they can begin to fathom where the f— we coming from.”
