Jay Z and Beyonce appeared at a rally for Trayvon Martin in NYC on Saturday  (July 20), just hours before Hov is scheduled to perform his second show at Yankee Stadium in the Bronx.

The NY Daily News reports that the superstar couple showed up in Harlem to support the family of the slain Florida teen. The Rev. Al Sharpton was also in attendance and wearing black, Jay-Z and Beyonce were somber at the rally.

“George Zimmerman started the fight and George Zimmerman ended the fight,” Travyon’s mother, Sabrina Fulton, said. “My son died without even knowing who his killer was … Today it was my son. Tomorrow it might be yours.” Several cities, including Los Angeles, Miami and Atlanta, are hosting rallies to remember Trayvon Martin.

Jay-Z and Beyonce have both shown support for Trayvon, who was killed by neighborhood vigilante George Zimmerman. At the Toronto stop for his Legends of the Summer tour, Jay-Z and Justin Timberlake dedicated Hov’s “Young Forever” to Martin. Vibe shared video of the performance, during which Jay says “This is for Mr. Trayvon Martin.”

After jurors found George Zimmerman not guilty of second degree murder, Beyonce also had a moment of silence for Trayvon during her own show. She sang the chorus of Whitney Houston’s “I Will Always Love You” and then her own “Halo.”
