Willow Smith has moved on from hair whips to blonde tints. The 12-year-old daughter of Will and Jada Pinkett Smith has returned to the music scene as Melodic Chaotic, a collaboration with DJ MVSIC Fabrega. The duo, which realeased their first single, “The Intro” earlier this year, just premiered a new single, “Summer Fling” over the weekend and released a music video to accompany it.
Willow Smith goes for an indie-romantic vibe in the video, which she and Mike Vargas directed. Willow breaks out her British accent to ask a guy for his number, but soon tells him not to fall in love because “this” is only for a few months. The video shows Willow cozying up to her “summer fling” while having a pool party and bonfire with her friends. The video also features cameos from her older brothers Trey and Jaden.
The context of the song seems a bit mature for a 12-year-old, but the feel-good vibe is catching on. On the record, Willow sings:
“Bright sun and the blue waters/ We fight less and love harder/ You tell me that I’m the one, I tell you it’s just for fun/ We walk the beach at midnight, and watch the stars and the clear skies/ We both say I love you, but it’s alright…”
