It was a blast from the past on Sunday night (June 30) when R. Kelly touched down on the BET Awards stage with a surprise performance. Outfitted in a spiked-filled ensemble, the self-proclaimed “King of R&B” showed us just why he’s been a fan favorite for so long. Kellz opened with a choir singing his hits acapella and then went into “I Wish,” “When A Woman’s Fed Up,” “Ignition (Remix)” and more.
Even celebrities in the audience like Nicki Minaj and Jamie Foxx enjoyed the medley of Kelly hits. “R Kelly gave us a quick 10 seconds of straight bangers and he didn’t even pull out the trapped in the closet” tweeted the McCourty Twins, while Black Canseco added, “R. Kelly got a catalog… i think that’s what he tryna to remind the kiddies.”
Kellz closed with a brief version of his hook to The Notorious B.I.G.’s “F—ing You Tonight” and then chucked the deuces, saying that his time was up.
