In addition to being one of the Hottest MC’s in the game, Meek Mill will soon be able to add actor and film maker to his list of accomplishments.

Meek Mill and James Lindsay of Dream Chaser Films are linking up with Flavor Unit Entertainment‘s Queen Latifah and Shakim Compere to produce a film called “The Tony Story,” based off the track “Tony Story,” from Meek’s 2011 Dreamchasers mixtape and his paperback book released back in May.

The film is a fictional American crime drama that was heavily influenced by his difficult upbringing in Philadelphia, much like the song which goes into detail about envy between friends, death, drugs and revenge.

“I’m particularly excited about this project as Shakim and I are huge fans of Meek Mill & his work,” Queen Latifah said in a statement. “It’s a great partnership and we look forward to being involved in the telling of this story.”

The script is being written by hip-hop journalist and The Source magazine’s editor-in-chief, Carlito Rodriquez. The Maybach Music Group rapper will star in the film and Cess Silvera will be in the director’s chair. Silvera is responsible for the 2002 classic “Shottas.”
