Last Sunday, the Bey Hive was all abuzz after the release of Queen Bey’s ferocious, ego-tripping single “Bow Down/ I Been On” hit the internet. Despite all of the chatter and controversy surrounding the new southern influenced record, one thing that can’t be overlooked is the praise and homage she shows to her hometown, Houston, Texas.
On her latest release she infuses H-town’s notorious chopped-and-screwed sound, reminding her fans that the south runs deep in her blood. According to reports, the singer will take her ode to Houston a step further by tapping a few of Texas’ hip-hop legends to join her on an official remix. But, is a full on rap remix something the BeyHive wants?
Several Beyoncé stans have already expressed disappointment in the new single, because it doesn’t feature enough of her signature belting vocals. When you add it all up, there is only about a minute of Bey’s vocals in the over 3 and a half minute long song. Ultimately, core fans want to hear more from the Queen and less of anything else.
Beyoncé’s camp hasn’t confirmed or denied an official remix just yet, but it’s been reported that Scarface, Willie D., Slim Thug, Kirko Bangz, Lil KeKe and Bun B –a roundup that would certainly be a good look for H-Town– will be featured on the remix. Are you ready for a “Bow Down/ I Been On” remix? Would you want features from rappers like Kirko Bangz and Slim Thug, or would you prefer Beyoncé go in another direction?
