It’s been one hell of a year for Mike WiLL Made It, so while the Atlanta hit maker is celebrating his 24th birthday on Saturday (March 23) he can toast to more than a bday cake. Hell, Mike WiLL’s past week was enough cause for a party!
Earlier this week the producer turned up in an Instagram photo with hip-hop icons Jay-Z and Timbaland, with a caption that read: “No words can explain…Hov, Mike Will Made-It, Timbo. #HipHopHistory.”
If that wasn’t enough, the young beatsmith saw Rihanna release a remix to “Pour It Up,” a song that he produced which now features Young Jeezy Rick Ross, Juicy J and T.I.
Future started the festivities early on Friday night when he hit Twitter to honor his friend and collaborator. “Let me b one of the 1st if not the first too say happy bday to my Brotha frm anotha planet @MikeWiLLMadeIt,” he wrote.
Ever since, messages from 2 Chainz, Juicy J, Ciara and Miley Ray Cyrus have been pouring in.
Overall it’s been a landmark year for Mike WiLL Made It and at 23 years old he has accomplished more than some producers twice his age. So far he has raked in 7 RIAA certifications. There was the gold plaque he got for Future’s “Turn on the Lights,” which peaked at #2 on Billboard’s Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart. He then followed up with a platinum plaque for 2 Chainz’s “No Lie.”
Then of course there was his contribution alongside Kanye West and a host of other beat makers on G.O.O.D. Music’s “Mercy.” While Mike WiLL didn’t produce the record in its entirety, it did go double platinum, and helped the rising star earn more hardware for his walls.
The hits seem to keep mounting for Will, of course there is Rihanna’s “Pour It Up” and Lil Wayne’s “Love Me,” and how could we ever forget Juicy J’s ubiquitous hit “Bandz a Make Her Dance.”
If this upcoming year is anything like his last, we will all be collectively shouting “Mike WiLL Made It” for a very long time.
