The Weeknd has always been a man of few words, so it’s fitting that he stayed true to his nature by revealing the title of his next album without saying a word. A simple tweet was all it took for Abel to get his fan base buzzing about his upcoming LP Kissland. “album title,” he wrote on Sunday with a twitpic attached.
The pic revealed black cover art with the title Kissland in a light green hue, as the Weekend font appeared below it in all white. Whether or not the cover art Abel tweeted is the actual album artwork remains to be seen, however.
In 2012 the Toronto singer/songwriter dropped his gold-selling Trilogy, a compilation of his three 2011 mixtapes House of Balloons, Thursday and Echoes of Silence. With his music the Weeknd carved out a dedicated fan base thanks to his moody and soul-driven singles like “The Party & The After Party,” “Thursday” and of course his breakout track “Wicked Games.”
He also did well crafting some unforgettable collaborations when he teamed with Drake on “Crew Love” off of his Grammy winning album Take Care and Wiz Khalifa on “Remember You” from O.N.I.F.C. Most recently the Canadian breakout partnered with Juicy J for his new single “One of those Nights.”
“Hey I’m gonna dance on the clouds today, and make it rain on everybody beneath us,” the Weeknd sings in his usual breathy tone at the opening of the track which will appear on Juicy’s upcoming Stay Trippy. Juicy later jumps in with reckless rhyme abandon spitting lyrics like: “In a hotel with your girl for about a week, shooting shower scenes.”
What do you think of the Weeknd’s new album title?
