Who’s ready for a mashup? Justin Timberlake and Jay-Z are flying high after delivering a knockout performance of Justin’s new single “Suit & Tie” at the 55th Annual Grammy’s earlier this month. Now they’re going to be teaming up for a twelve-city joint tour called “Legends of the Summer.”With a tour name like that, we’re speculating that the power duo will tap some of their living-legend friends to join them on stage for certain shows. They say three’s a crowd, but with heavy hitters like these, who wouldn’t want more bang for their buck?
T.I.: In an interview back in January, Tip told MTV News that he assisted on “two or three records” from JT’s upcoming album, along with commending “Suit & Tie” as “a sound that was missed.” And after the two collaborated in ‘06 for the hit single “My Love,” we already know this match up would be a winning team.
Beyonce: As if the super star combo of Jay and JT wasn’t enough, an appearance from Queen Bey herself might quite frankly melt eardrums, melodically speaking of course. Beyonce has already recorded with Justin for her fifth studio album and as for her on-stage chemistry with HOV…you already know.
Frank Ocean: Still sailing off his first Grammy wins, one of which included Best Rap/Song Collaboration for “No Church in the Wild” with Kanye West and Jay Z, Frank Ocean’s sound is bluesy enough to mesh well with Justin as well as intricate enough to complement Jay.
Our Wild-Card Wish, Kendrick Lamar: The newcomer and Compton native would pull in another demographic to the shows, maximizing the trio’s capital. With an affinity for story-telling like Hov (see: good kid, M.A.A.D City) and melodic bridges that would draw in JT’s fans, the newbie would easily hold his own.
