Chief Keef may be turning over a new, spiritual leaf. According to the Global Grind, the rapper is planning on getting baptized by Rev. Corey Brooks. Brooks says, "I think people forget he is 17 years old. He is not a bad kid.” According to Brooks, Keef's time away has helped him see the error in his ways. "He has had a chance to think. He is an entertainer, that is how he sees himself. But at the same time, he has a God-consciousness. He is not some terror who is wreaking havoc.”
Early this year, Keef was sentenced to 60 days in a juvenile detention center due to a probation violation. Keef was reportedly teary eyed as he pled with the judge. "I am a very good-hearted person,” Keef said to Judge Carl Anthony with tears in his eyes, the Chicago Sun-Times reported. "I am sorry for anything that I have done wrong. ... Give me a chance."
In January, Judge Anthony ruled that Keef showed a "willful disregard" for the court when he appeared in a video interview holding a firearm with music site Pitchfork last summer. Since the news broke, his fans have taken to Twitter using the hashtag #FreeSosa in support of the rap star who dropped his debut album Finally Rich in December.
