Snoop Lion’s ‘Reincarnated’ Documentary Hits Theaters In March

By Caitlin Beck

Since July 2012, when Snoop Dogg officially announced that he’d changed his name to Snoop Lion, many of his fans (and even Dr. Dre)  wondered where this change of heart came from. After months of questioning, it seems that we will finally be getting the answers that we crave about Snoop’s switch up and his religious enlightenment with the release of his documentary, Reincarnated.

Reincarnated, which is being produced by VICE films and Snoopadelic Films, is set for limited release in six cities beginning on March 1. The film chronicles the once violent rapper’s decision to change his tune and join the Rastafarian movement. The film has also been selected to be shown at the Toronto International Film Festival.

Although many question Snoop’s religious sincerity, he does have a blessing from Bob Marley’s family and an official welcome to the movement from Marley’s son Rohan. Snoop is set to release an upcoming reggae album under the same name as his documentary.
