Juelz Santana is back! The last time we got a full-length solo project from Elz, Jay-Z was a retried rapper and the Diplomats were still intact. On Monday (January 14) the Harlem rhyme dealer made up for lost time though and dropped God Will’n, an 18-track return to rap in the form of a mixtape.
Yes, God Will’n was a long time coming, but judging from the reaction on Twitter good things come to those who wait. Two years after the police raided his New Jersey studio, Juelz snapped out of his creative funk and decided to hit the booth to dish out new music. “I didn’t really want to go to nobody else’s studio,” he told MTV News. “When you have your own, it’s like having your own house. You come and go as you please. You don’t have nobody. You can unlock the door. It was just so much different so.”
During his more active rap days few could touch Juelz as a lyricist. In the years that he sat back watching the game, the confident spitter noticed a lane that only he could fill. “I’m just looking at the game. I’m looking and I’m watching and I said ‘It’s looking nasty out here man’,” he said. I know what I’m doing. I know what I’m capable of. Can I compete? Yes! That’s not even a question.”
