Wiz Khalifa, Juicy J, Young Jeezy Hit Stage At 2012 Hip Hop Awards

Wiz Khalifa is a definite party animal, so why wouldn’t BET choose the Taylor Gang captain to set off their 2012 BET Hip Hop Awards show on Tuesday (October 9) night. And the Rolling Papers MC did not disappoint.

Cap stormed the stage to the beat of his O.N.I.F.C. single “Work Hard, Play Hard” in his usual rock-star fashion wearing a black leather jacket, black shades and a black fedora. The electric performer bounced back and forth onstage, doing his carefree Khalifa dance, kicking his legs and swinging his arms wildly above his head, while multicolored lights flashed behind him.

The already-enthralled crowd at the Atlanta Civic Center turned things up a notch when hometown hero Young Jeezy marched out onstage to rock his “Work Hard” remix verse. “Every night it’s champagne, n—a/ Key to life, maintain, n—a/ Nothin’ changed but the chain, n—a/ What weigh a ki? My chain, n—a,” the Snowman spit with his unmistakable Southern gruff.

Lil Wayne, who appears on the remix as well, wasn’t in attendance, so Three 6 Mafia veteran and Taylor Gang MC Juicy J gladly took his place with a verse of his own.

MTV News caught up with Wiz moments before his big performance on the BET red carpet, and while he was excited about the awards show and his Mixtape of the Year nomination for Taylor Allderdice, Pittsburgh’s shining star was also grinning ear-to-ear talking about his very pregnant bride-to-be Amber Rose and the couple’s baby on the way. Though he and Rose know the sex of the little bambino, Wiz refused to dish. “I do know, but then [Amber] told us not to say yet. We’ll wait until she’s ready,” he said, making sure to stick with the plan.
