Set in Cape Town, South Africa Solange Knowles delivers the video for her latest single “Losing You.” In what she described as a “grab a camera and let’s go moment,” following her four-year hiatus from music, the stylish singer grabbed members of the Le Sapeurs subculture for some fun visuals.

MTV Style breaks down Solange’s new video

“When Melina and I decided to film ‘Losing You’ in South Africa, we really didn’t have a real firm concept in place,” the 26-year-old singer explained to Pitchfork. “It was sort of a grab a camera and let’s go moment. I knew I wanted to capture a couple things: the vibe of our friendship and all of the crazy escapades we’ve gotten ourselves into all over the world, and the abstract and elegant Le Sape Society (Society for the Advancement of People of Elegance) formed in the Congo which was documented by Daniele Tamagni in his Gentleman of Bacongo book. We called Daniele to guide us, and some of my friends from New York came down to Cape Town and we all had a very damn good time.”

Dropping the teaser a few weeks back, an excited Solange tweeted about the African-stylized clip writing, “Was so honored to shoot this piece in the astounding works of the brilliant artist @MICKALENETHOMAS .Ive been inspired by her work for ages,” she tweeted. “After using her work as a reference for so long, I decided to go out on a limb and ask @mickalenethomas to be apart of the project. I was so honored & beyond myself when @mickalenethomas let us shoot the piece in one of her brilliant installations.”
