Things Are ‘Different’ Between 50 Cent And Floyd Mayweather After Jail

By Rob Markman

There was a time when 50 Cent and boxing champ Floyd Mayweather were as thick as thieves, but that no longer seems to be the case.

Update: 50 Cent Partners With Mayweather’s Rival Manny Pacquiao

In a recent interview on “the Rickey Smiley Morning Show” Fif revealed that his relationship with the prized pugilist may be on the ropes. “[The issues between us] really comes from…everybody around him is waiting on the next time he feels generous,” he said, “And I have a lot [of money] so I don’t wait for nobody. I’ll go do what I gotta do. I don’t have to sit around and wait for the next time he feels like giving somebody something.”

Though Fif and Money May aren’t completely on the outs, the G-Unit CEO said that his boxing buddy has changed since being released from prison in August. “Me and Floyd is always gonna be cool,” he said. “[But] he is different. [There's been] a different side of Floyd coming out of the pen. That’s all.”

When Floyd got out of the pen, it was 50 who was there to greet him. During Mayweather’s stint Fif was concerned for his friend and the treatment that he was receiving on the inside from prison officials and guards. “He’s not doing good right now,” said 50. “He only been out seven hours since he been in there. They doin’ everything to make this difficult.”

On May 5 50, Justin Bieber and Lil Wayne all joined Floyd Mayweather to celebrate his victory against Miguel Cotto in the ring and in his dressing room. “Floyd has a huge passion for music that people don’t know about,” 50 explained. “It’s a big part of what makes him comfortable and takes his mind off of how hard he has to work to stay being the #1 fighter in the world. With Wayne’s music momentum, he’s a part of that; he’s been a part of the playlist, so it’s cool.”
