Taylor Swift’s Next Album Will Be Hip-Hop Influenced

By Jocelyn Vena

Taylor Swift is, of course, pals with a number of hip-hop stars. Whether or not that news surprises you, the fact is, it’s true.

Her roster of rapper friends includes heavyweights like T.I., Nicki Minaj, Flo Rida, T-Pain and BoB, to name a few. Whether she’s hopped on a track with them or had them join her on stage (like she frequently did on her Speak Now tour), Swift loves herself a good rap song and a good rapper.

In fact, when she sat down with MTV News on Thursday (August 30), she shared that while singer/songwriter Ed Sheeran and another mysterious band appear on her October 22 release, Red, she didn’t call in any favors from her roster of rappers to lay down any verses on the album. “I think the next one will be my hip-hop influenced one,” she laughed. “Maybe I’ll just start rapping or DJing. I love hip hop, I love rap so much. So much.”

She may not be making any hip-hop records yet, but there is a lovely spoken word part on her latest single, “We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together,” which could be her attempt at the rap game. Ok, probably not, but we’re not saying we’d love to hear the remix of her record-making single, “We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together,” get some more girl empowerment from Nicki Minaj on a remix, but, like, maybe we are.
