They say that the third time’s a charm, but that adage holds especially true for pop-rapper Flo Rida, who, after landing at No. 1 on the Billboard HOT 100 singles chart twice early in his career with 2007’s “Low” and 2009’s “Right Round,” finds himself on top of the music mountain again with his third #1 single, “Whistle,” from his latest opus, Wild Ones.
The single, which leapfrogged Carly Rae Jepsen’s “Call Me Maybe” for the top spot last week, has racked up nearly four million digital download worldwide. Visuals for the song feature the Atlantic recording artist frolicking on location in Acapulco, Mexico with bikini-clad beauties getting their whistle on.
Sporting a hefty, sparkling diamond-encrusted whistle on a gold chain, the MC born Tramar Dillard in 187th Street projects of Carol City, Florida, celebrated the success of his massive international hit in Miami at club Bamboo fresh off his tour in Japan. There was a “Hot 100” decorated cake and boatloads of confetti raining down in the club before Flo put his own stamp on the festivities: an impromptu performance of his medley of chart topping hits.
