It’s not often that songs come with disclaimers, but after one listen it’s not hard to see why Lupe Fiasco chose this route with his new single “Lamborghini Angels.” The track is certainly not for the faint of heart, especially by the third verses when issues of rape and molestation surface.
“Warning: if you are easily offended or religiously sensitive DO NOT listen to Lamborghini Angels. Contains very disturbing content,” Lupe wrote on Twitter last Tuesday (August 7), ahead the song’s release. “Listener discretion is thoroughly advised.”
Lupe is no stranger to controversy with his brutally honest lyrics, which are often politically and socially-charged, and he’s never been one to hold back his opinions or emotions. During a recent visit to “RapFix Live” Lupe broke down while watching footage of his old Chicago neighborhood, telling host Sway Calloway that he saw “ghosts” in the video. Fans were touched by the moment and shared an outpouring of support for him.
Food & Liquor 2: Great American Rap Album Pt. 1 is due September 25.
