G.O.O.D Music’s Cruel Summer Album Might Be Delayed

Sorry kids, instead of a late September release the upcoming G.O.O.D. Music album might not arrive until next month.

You’ve waited this long, so what’s another two weeks? As anticipation grows for the debut from Kanye West’s G.O.O.D. Music crew, Cruel Summer,? news came over the weekend that the compilation has been pushed back by two weeks to accommodate some new features from the likes of Yasiin Bey.

The disc, originally due out in early August and then pushed to September 4, is now apparently slated to drop on September 18, according to G.O.O.D. extended family member Malik Yusef, who broke the news with a tweet on Friday. “Yeah, it looks like a push back on #cruelsummer but our wish has 4 additional features has MOSt DEFinitely been granted,” he wrote.

The frequent Kanye collaborator did not specify the new release date or the specific reason for the delay, but it has been widely reported as September 18. A spokesperson for Island Def Jam did not return requests for comment on the reportedly delayed release, though Amazon.com currently lists September 18 as the new street date.

West recently surprised some clubgoers? with a preview of a few songs from the hush-hush album at during an appearance at a Chelsea club. With laptop in hand, ‘Ye approached the booth at the Dream Downtown’s PH-D Rooftop Lounge and spun a few tunes, including the reported Kim Kardashian homage, “My Perfect Bitch.”

The disc, which is slated to feature such already-classic tunes as “New God Flow” and “Mercy,” will be thick with the roster of VMA nominee? West’s G.O.O.D. family, including Common, Pusha T, Kid Cudi, Big Sean, 2 Chainz, John Legend and Q-Tip.
