Kendrick Lamar Hits Highs And Lows In ‘Swimming Pools’ Video

Pour up. Drank! Kendrick Lamar delivers the music video for his highly acclaimed new single “Swimming Pools (Drank).” In the clip, the TDE rapper spits and shares visuals about the repercussions of having one too many “dranks.” As the track centers around the impacts of alcoholism, Lamar creates his own vision of a “dark room, loud tombs” driven by the brown bottle.

First appearing in what seems to represent a broken home followed by a party scene, plummeting through a few black holes, then actually ending up in a pool full of liquor, the Black Hippy hits fans with visuals that properly accompany the cautionary drinking tale.

The new Aftermath signee appears on XXL magazine’s 15th anniversary issue cover alongside mentor Dr. Dre. “After Snoop, Eminem, & 50 Cent Dr.Dre Brings Us Hip-Hops Next Big Star; Kendrick Lamar,” the cover reads. The special issue will hit shelves on August 14.

Following his lead single “The Recipe” featuring Dr. Dre, “Swimming Pools (Drank)” will also appear on Kendrick Lamar’s debut album, good kid m.A.A.d city, dropping October 2nd.
