Frank Ocean’s official debut album Channel Orange was unexpectedly released a week early on iTunes (ahead of the original July 17 release date) but for those of you who still haven’t purchased it online, you’re “Golden” if you pick up a physical copy next week. Ocean collaborated with fellow Odd Future artist, Tyler, The Creator for a bonus track on the album called “Golden Girl.”
The track has a laid back, Caribbean vibe to it which is perfect for its mid-summer release.
Ocean’s album has received stellar reviews from fans and fellow artists alike. Stars like Beyonce and Russell Simons have come out in support of Ocean after he announced that his first love was a man.
Due to the sudden early release, Target will not carry physical copies of the album and they shot down allegations that the decision had anything to do with Ocean’s sexuality. In a statement to MTV News, Target explained what was going down."At Target, we focus on offering our guests a wide assortment of physical CDs, so our selection of new releases is dedicated to physical CDs rather than titles that are released digitally in advance of the street date."
