The 2012 Essence Music Festival successfully capped another year celebrating the African American culture in the New Orleans area. Artists including Mary J. Blige, D’ Angelo, Trey Songz, Fantasia, Dru Hill, Eve, Carl Thomas, comedian Kevin Hart, Melanie Fiona and much more carried the bulk of the musical performances at the Mercedes Benz Super Dome day in and day out. Throughout the weekend brand names such as Hennessy, Coca Cola, Verizon, Ford and more continued the festivities on the streets of the French Quarter.“Essence, itself represents the continuity of black culture” said Carl Thomas following his performance at the Super Lounge. “It represents a homecoming, it represents a bringing together, it represents a family reunion, it represents all those warm things that we as the people have come to know and love.” Hit the link for photos from the weekend and stay tuned for more coverage from the weekend.
