With rain falling and winds high, 50,000 attendees of BBC Radio 1's Hackney Festival in London could have been disappointed yesterday (June 23), but headliner Jay-Z, with a little crowd participation from Beyonce, gave them the set of a lifetime.
Jay, who brought out his Throne partner Kanye West as a surprise guest, asked the crowd to form a circular mosh pit for the duo's rendition of the concert staple "N---as In Paris." Beyonce took the orders to heart, moshing and dancing at the highest possible energy level. "Make your family proud," joked Jay from the stage before launching into the song for the second time in a row.
In addition to the surprise guest spot from Ye, Jay also kicked-off the show with his former protege Rihanna. The two performed a spirited rendition of their collaboration "Run This Town" from "The Blueprint 3" to the massive crowd's delight.
Since The Throne tour has been winding through Europe, Beyonce has been supporting Jay along the way. And while that's unsurprising, Bey has also made nice with West's significant other Kim Kardashian. Earlier this week, the two were spotted in the Throne crowd, sharing some laughs and smiles.
