Always one to surprise the patient, singer-songwriter Frank Ocean unveiled his heavily-anticipated debut album Channel Orange at KMA Studios in New York last night (June 21). While news unto itself, Ocean really grabbed the hip-hop world’s attention by revealing an unexpected collaboration with OutKast legend Andre 3000, TheBoomBox reports.

Due July 17, the genre-hopping record from Odd Future’s go-to vocalist finds him pairing with Andre on a song called “Pleasure.” 3000 both raps and sings, adding another surprising guest appearance in a hot streak that has found him collaborating with Lil Wayne, Young Jeezy, Beyonce and Drake over the past couple years.

Andre, in a rare interview with GQ earlier this year, said that these sorts of collaborations with younger, forward-thinking have aided his personal creative renaissance. “I’ve been doing collaborations, so these new artists have kind of been keeping me alive,” he said. “I’ve really been feeding off of that.”

Of course, the guest spots are also leading to a new solo album for Andre who, like Frank Ocean, takes his time to make sure everything with the music is right before throwing it out. “I don’t know when it will come out, but hopefully this year,” he said.
