This week, newly minted YMCMB member Mystikal announced the release date for his upcoming mixtape, Origins. The New Orleans MC took to Twitter to tell fans that Origins will drop July 30 and he also unveiled the cover art for the first single off the anticipated project, called “Bulls—.”Mystikal plans to tweet a link to the song later today, on his last day of freedom before beginning an 81-day jail sentence on Monday for parole violation.

During a recent interview Mystikal confirmed that he will still release singles and visuals from the mixtape while incarcerated. Then, once the Cash Money rapper is released in August, he plans to tour to promote the free project. When asked about the mixtape Mystikal told Billboard, “I went in and hit a mixtape real hard like an album. Oh Lord, it’s hard. It’s Mystikal and all his friends… I utilized my resources, and that’s production-wise, too.”

Mystikal’s sentence is a result of a violation of his five-year probation, stemming from sexual battery and extortion charges that landed him in a Louisiana prison from 2004 to 2010. However Cash Money CEO Birdman continues to support Mystikal’s career, emphasizing that the arrest will not affect their relationship.

Mystikal’s former No Limit Records boss, Master P, also recently commented Mystikal’s new business ventures. “It’s always been a friendly competition with us, but at the end of the day, I salute him. He gotta do what he gotta do for his family,” P told MTV’s RapFix.

“But with us, we after something bigger, we don’t mind waiting it out. We still building our thing so when he first got out of jail, he needed something to get himself back out there. Right now we in a rebuilding process. So I salute Mystikal. We gon’ always do records, he always gon’ be in my heart, but also I gotta let him be a man and do what he gotta do and that’s what he doing.”
