Maybach Music Group dropped into Atlantic City for their Takeover Tour this past weekend, with performances from Rick Ross, Meek Mill, French Montana, Travis Porter and Future. MTV News caught up with the crew backstage, where Meek Mill talked about his approach for his debut album Dreams and Nightmares.
Meek Mill dropped his Dreamchasers 2 mixtape last week, and the Philly rap is still floating from the buzz the project caused. “2 million downloads in a day or two? I’m just blessed,” he explained. “I expected to do 300, 000 to 400,000 then took it over to two million.”
The MMG rapper also went on to talk about his upcoming debut album, Dreams and Nightmares, which drops on August 28. “[On] Dreams and Nightmares you can expect quality music and you’re gonna get the real me,” he said. “It ain’t gonna be all over the place like the mixtapes. This album I’ma make it connect, I’ma try to perfect my craft a little more; make sure the flows touch the beats a little better, make sure the beasts sound clearer. You know Frenchie gonna be on there, you know Rozay gonna be on there, but some of the features are gonna be a surprise.”
