Ludacris’ eighth studio album Ludaversal is set to debut on September 11, 2012. The Atlanta rapper has spent recent weeks in the studio recording with artists that include Chris Brown and soul singer Anita Baker, with the photos to prove it. According to HHNM, Luda’s first single, produced by Da Internz is expected to arrive shortly.

In Janury, Ludacris told Billboard that the album was almost halfway completed, “I get the beats together and I put out my ideas, so I’d say we’re maybe about 40 percent done,” but at the time Usher was still the only feature secured for the album. “Usher is one person that I’ve already worked with. In terms of other artists, you can say that there’s going to be a lot of surprises on here.”

Now, we know that one of those surprises is legendary soul singer Anita Baker, an unlikely collaboration for the Atlanta rapper.

Ludaversal will be a follow up to Luda’s 2010 album Battle of the Sexes, and he admits that the content will be a little bit more personal than usual. “It’s been a minute since I’ve been away from music, and there is just so much to talk about,” he said. “So [the album] is mostly about my personal life, my travels, my experiences, rumors, gossip — you know, everything coming together in one.”

In November, he dropped his 1.21 Gigawatts mixtape, which made headlines for not-so-subliminal shots at Drake and Big Sean.
