During a recent chat with Vibe, Lil Wayne revealed that he plans to release his own sneaker line soon. After making headlines just last month for debuting the skateboard-inspired clothing line, Trukfit, Wayne was tight-lipped about the new venture. However, the YMCMB all-star did promise that the new brand was separate from Trukfit, explaining that it will be hosted by a major fashion brand.
“I do have a shoe coming out soon but it won’t be Trukfit, I have a shoe with a well-known company,” Wayne explained. “I just don’t want to say yet because I haven’t dotted the line yet.” Wayne confirmed that the shoe would not be released via Reebok or Nike, but when Supra was mention he replied saying, “Uh-oh. Watch out.”
In mid January, Lil Wayne explained the name of his Trukfit clothing line at the 2012 Zumiez 100K event in Keystone, Colorado where he gave a full presentation of the new skateboard apparel. “When a person could spot a fake, they’d be like ‘you got on the truck fit,’” he said, “So now it’s cool to have on the Truckfit, ya dig!”
Wayne’s Trukfit line is available at Zumiez retailers nationwide.
