Jim Jones was arrested and maced by police following a brawl in Connecticut on Friday night (February 24) which took place at the MGM Grand at Foxwoods. Details are still premature but early reports are saying that an intoxicated casino patron accosted the rapper and Jones fought back in self defense. The instigator and Jones' respective crews joined the scuffle and pandemonium ensued.
Cops arrived and matters only got worse. TMZ acquired this bystander video footage which shows a crowd in the casino lobby and Jimmy being forcibly subdued by several cops who allegedly used mace to calm him down. Onlookers are overheard shouting sentiments of support for Jones like, "It's that boy Jimmy" and "Yeah Jimmy!"
According to the Associated Press, state police spokesman J. Paul Vance says Jimmy was charged with assault on a police officer and breach of peace and he was released after posting bond. Vance said Saturday that Jones assaulted a trooper during the fight (presumably from the aforementioned video) but Vance was not certain how the melee started.
Jone was eventually released on bond.
No official statements have been made by Jones' camp but the Capo took to Twitter on Saturday evening to comment, writing, "This is gettin blown way out of proportion."
