Everything was purple last night as A$AP Rocky took the stage for a sold-out show at NYC’s Irving Plaza. Harlem’s pretty boy rapper had the audience of hipsters, fan boys and hip-hop industry types in a dreamy haze, performing a woozy set of songs from his Live.Love.A$AP mixtape like “Peso” and “Roll One.” He even brought out special guests, Bun B, Waka Flocka Flame and School Boy Q, putting the venue on tilt.

Brooklyn newcomers, Flatbush Zombies, warmed up the crowd early in the night performing their hit “Thug Waffle,” but G-Eazy really connected with the crowd during his set. The Oakland-born rapper (who splits his time between New Orleans) performed a brief but energetic set mixing his signature bass with 50s/60s rock that got energy levels up.

Buzzy Detroit MC, Danny Brown, kept things moving with his raunchy rhymes. The mohawk-haired rapper performed a string of tracks including the bouncy “LIE4″ from his critically acclaimed XXX mixtape, just in time for tax season.

A$AP—dressed in all black with requisite 40 oz—was backed by his ever-growing A$AP mob including A$AP Ferg, A$AP Twelvvy and at any given moment, frenetic audience members pulled up from the crowd. Stage diving, blunt lighting and chants of “A$AP!” abounded throughout the evening, creating an almost cult-like ambience. Rocky proved both charismatic and humble, a man of the people who reiterated several times the surreal feeling he had of playing in front of a hometown crowd.

Rocky was joined by a gaggle of guest stars for cameos and duets: Waka Flocka Flame (“Hard In Da Paint”), ScHoolboy Q (“Brand New Guy” and “Hands On The Wheel”), and Bun B. (“Sippin’ on Some Sizzurp,” “Purple Swag”). The latter appearance proved to be an especially poignant hip-hop moment as a passing of trill from one generation to another
