People’s Choice Awards: Eminem And Rihanna Win

The 2012 People’s Choice Awards aired on Wednesday night (January 11) and while Katy Perry and Johnny Depp were big winners, Eminem, Rihanna and Kanye West didn’t do so badly either. Slim Shady picked up an award for Favorite Hip-Hop Artist, while Rihanna won for Favorite R&B Artist, and Kanye West shared some of the love for his feature on Katy Perry’s “E.T.” the people’s favorite song of the year.

When the original announcements were made Beyonce was nominated in five different categories, while B.o.B., Nicki Minaj, Pitbull and Jay-Z were competing with Eminem for favorite Hip Hop Artist. Chris Brown and Ne-Yo were Rihanna’s competition for Favorite R&B Artist.

Other big winners included Lady Gaga, who nabbed Favorite Album of the Year and Bruno Mars, the Favorite Male Artist. The annual awards show handed out prizes voted on by more than 230 million people. “The Big Bang Theory” actress Kaley Cuoco hosted the show, and in between costume changes and witty banter, she managed to emcee a night that combined pop culture’s love for TV, movies and music. Airing live from Los Angeles, the show was chock-full of funny moments, as well as frequent references to funny folks like Neil Patrick Harris and Betty White, who even got a kiss from Don Cheadle.
