Jay-Z has added the role of fatherhood to his list of responsibilities, with the birth of his daughter Blue Ivy Carter, but don’t think he’s slowing down on the business front. A press release on BusinessWire revealed that the rapper and mogul is partnering with Duracell Powermat, LLC. The multi-year agreement includes Jay as an investor, as well as being the face and spokesman for the Duracell Powermat JV.
“I believe in the future of wireless energy and I believe that Duracell Powermat is the company to bring on the revolution,” Jay said in the release. “I’m partnering with Duracell Powermat because they’re providing the solutions for the future.”
Duracell has been known for its batteries for years, but its joint venture with Powermat will focus on wireless charging products. Execs at both companies praised Jay-Z in the press release. “JAY-Z is power personified. He inspires millions of people all over the world on a daily basis with his music and his story,” said Ran Poliakine, CEO of Powermat Technologies. “There is no better face or voice that can move people to adopt a new paradigm in power delivery.”
Jay-Z has become a multi-faceted spokesman over the years, nabbing partnerships and endorsement deals with the likes of Reebok, Hewlett Packard, Bing and more. His latest disc, Watch the Throne with Kanye West, was one of MTV RapFix’s Top Five Albums of 2011.
