DMX’s career has been on the outs for the past few years, as the Yonkers-bred rapper continued to battle with addiction, and subsequently spent a good amount of time behind bars, but we’re happy to report that his New Year is off to a good start. On January 1, DMX partied at LIV nightclub in Miami where Lil Wayne, Rihanna, Nas and a few other celebrities also happened to be celebrating. When Weezy noticed one of his idols in the club, he stopped the music and pulled the Ruff Ryders leader on stage to give him a very warm welcome.
“Tonight is history ’cause I got a f—ing legend standing behind me,” an excited Wayne tells the crowd from the stage. “When I turned around, I saw this ni—, I was like, ‘Stop the music and let these motherf—as know that DMX is in this bitch.’”
It’s a rare thing to see Weezy star struck, but he did his best to explain to the crowd just how happy he was to see DMX in the building. “I remember when I was 17 years old, I was on the world’s biggest hip-hop tour. It was called the Ruff Ryders/Cash Money tour, and you was rockin’ that sh–,” he said to DMX. “This is f—ing crazy, it’s crazy,” Wayne added, relinquishing the mic, letting DMX take front and center to perform a medley of hits including “Get At Me Dog” and “What These Bitches Want.”
So, DMX back?
In March, X will release Undisputed, his first full-length LP since 2006’s Year of the Dog… Again. And in Spring 2012 he will appear on VH1’s reality series “Couples Therapy” with his wife of 12 years, Tashera Simmons.
