Controversy magnet Tyler, The Creator was arrested on Thursday night (December 22nd) after an altercation with a sound engineer led to alleged vandalism. The arrest took place at Hollywood’s famed Roxy on Sunset Blvd., where the Odd Future frontman had just finished a performance. Roxy’s security staff reported that the 20-year-old had damaged the venue’s electric sound board. A video surfaced shortly afterwards showing a raging Tyler on the verge of violence with the engineer, the audience cheering him on in the background.
Wolf Gang fanatics overran the street when Tyler was seen being escorted to a nearby police station. This created a potential danger for officials, who had to close down the street for 30 minutes. Tyler’s mother was noticeably displeased with the situation, yelling at the cops as her son was taken into custody.
No one was injured last night, but this wouldn’t be the first time that Tyler’s fans have gathered in rioting fashion. Boston was in a frenzy this past May when fans revolted during an in-store signing for his Goblin album. An uncontrollable crowd left one cop hospitalized, and found several juveniles chanting absurdities on the building’s rooftop.
Since then the OFWGKTA member has more or less steered clear of trouble, working on collaborations with the Game, Pharrell and Lil Wayne recently.
