(T.I. on dropping a new mixtape)
By Henna Kathiya
Since his release from prison T.I. has been back on his grind, gearing up for the release of his eighth studio album Trouble Man and filming his VH1 reality series “T.I. and Tiny: The Family Hustle.” Seeing that the Atlanta rapper has recorded over 50 songs for his LP, he has extras to spare, and those will end up on his new mixtape F— Da City Up. The project is set to drop at midnight on New Year’s Day, and on Wednesday (December 20) Tip released a trailer to accompany it.
The 44 second teaser for the mixtape shows the Southern rapper getting primped on his tour bus, taking meticulous care to get dressed. Throwing on chains and an iced out watch as the lyrics “iced out brightly, shine like lightning” play in the background, Tip eventually hops off his tour bus to a group of welcoming fans.
The clip closes out with T.I. rapping to a crowd of adoring fans (“rockstar lifestyle might not make it” ) before ‘F—Da City Up’ 01.01.2012 pops up on the screen. On contemplating his decision to release a mixtape before his Trouble Man album, T.I. recently told MTV News: “The problem is that when I do a mixtape, I dive all the way in. I put so much stuff on there [mixtapes] and people say—no! hold that for the album, but I put it on there anyway so I’ve got to really wrap my mind around that idea.”
