There are certain perks that come with being hot in rap’s underground. After establishing himself with his “Cocaine City” DVD series, Coke Wave mixtapes and street hits like “Choppa Down” and “Shot Caller,” French Montana has been one of the hottest unsigned talents. Now, the Bronx, New York rapper is fielding offers from the biggest names in hip-hop. “My lawyer got contracts from every label that you can think of,” French told MTV News on November 29.

Montana admits to being courted by Kanye West, Diddy, Jay-Z and Rick Ross, but where will he sign? French plans to reveal that on December 8 when he goes to BET’s “106 & Park” to debut his video for “Shot Caller.”

“I’m flattered ’cause there not just rumors, they’re really true, but I’m not signed to those people they just giving me offers,” he clarified. “I’m just flattered especially because someone like Kanye, Jay-Z, Puff Daddy, Rick Ross, everybody—I’m just flattered to have everybody really understand the grind.”

Rumors of French signing to Yeezy’s G.O.O.D. Music label began to swirl when photos of the two floated around the Internet in November. “Me and Kanye sat down and had meetings,” Montana confirmed. “We had lunch and talked and planed what we gonna do. But at the end of the day I just wanna go where I’m more comfortable.”

The emerging MC likened his free agency and upcoming decision to the one that NBA superstar LeBron James faced before he left the Cleveland Cavaliers to join the Miami Heat with Chris Bosh and Dwayne Wade in 2010. “I rather be LeBron on Cleveland, than LeBron in Heat, so you read between the lines,” French said. “Where ever I go I’d rather be the star then have to sit there. I worked this hard to get here so when I step in I have to be the main focus.”
