Drake’s Comic Book Biography Hits Stores In January

By Nadeska Alexis

Still listening to that Take Care leak? Drake’s sophomore LP won’t officially drop until November 15, but since fans have already been spinning it for a few days, by the time January rolls around there will be demand for more material. That joint mixtape with Rick Ross hasn’t been pegged with a release date yet, but what fans can expect is Drake’s comic book biography FAME: Drake at the top of 2012. The graphic bio will chart the Toronto native’s rise to fame through acting and rapping, and MTV Geek got the lowdown from the book’s author Marc Shapiro.

“What makes Drake such a distinctive creative personality is that he’s not just one thing. His music encompasses hip-hop, rap, old style rhythm and blues, soul and pop,” he told MTV Geek.

Shapiro spent plenty of time researching Drake while penning the biography and he only had glowing things to say about the Young Money rapper. “When was the last time you heard of a celebrity blowing off a lucrative tour to be at his mother’s side during her stay in the hospital? Drake did just that,” he said. “You could die of old age waiting to find somebody who has as much soul, creatively and as a human being, as Drake.”

FAME: Drake, featuring the art of Mike J.C. and a cover by Joe Phillips, will be in stores January 2012.
