October’s Very Own actor-turned-breakout rapper is 25-years-old today, but Drake began his celebration before the clock struck 12am on Monday (October 24), with a blowout party in Las Vegas over the weekend. We’re not sure if Drizzy is the type to stretch out his birthday for an entire week but the Toronto native certainly has enough to celebrate, including a recent SNL appearance and his upcoming sophomore album Take Care.
To mark the occasion, Drizzy and his crew took over TAO nightclub in Las Vegas on Saturday night (October 22), after jetting in especially for the occasion. “Momma I feel so alive…I made it to 25,” he tweeted. “Thank you all.”
“They asked me where I wanted to celebrate my birthday,” Drake announced to club, after treating party goers to a round of free drinks. “I said I’ve got to go to the place I have the most fun in the world. I had to go to Vegas.”
Wondering what gifts the birthday boy received to commemorate the milestone? The folks at AllThingsFresh teamed up with Good Wood NYC and Team Drizzy to put together a customized OVO kit for Drake, which includes beaded bracelets, iPhone cases and drinking glasses.
The celebratory mood will likely carry over through November 15 when Drake releases his highly anticipated Take Care album. When MTV News caught up with the Young Money rapper last week, he explained that the new LP charts his personal growth and offers a different perspective from previous albums. “I have way more going on in my life, so I can never be that kid that wants it,” he said, referring to his state of mind on 2009’s So Far Gone mixtape. “I can’t, ’cause I have it, so I have to tell you now about having it. That’s just an evolution of a human being. Hopefully people can listen to my stories and accept that fact that life has changed for me.”
Happy Birthday, Drake from the RapFix and MTV staff!
